TURTLE: Tethered Underwater Robot for Tracking Life and Ecosystems
Coming Spring, 2027 - we are happy to give a sneak preview of the TURTLE which will be launched from the ORCA and used to monitor biodiversity and ecosystems in our coastal marine and freshwater study areas, with a focus on integration with our long-term disturbance monitoring efforts in the GatorEye program and our remote sensing based landscape-scale work via the STORMCLOUD and AlphaMap projects. Data collection protocols for biodiversity assessments including upcoming integration of stereoscopic illuminated videos collected along repeatable transects with Fishial.AI AI-based fish identification from underwater images (see https://www.fishial.ai ).
