ORCA-CS
Key to water-based data collects is the SPEC Lab's Ocean-Research Command And Control Station (ORCA-CS). Our in development system, build 1 to be completed 2024, features a base Sundance DX22 Skiff, with customized launch / landing platform. The system is designed to enable mid to shallow water drone data collection operations, with focus on mangroves and other blue carbon environments. In addition, the vessel utility as a platform for sideways mounted bathymetric sonar is being explored. It will be used extensively in establishment and multi-temporal monitoring as relates to our BigPlotNetwork program, and specifically for long-term monitoring of Hurricane damages across the Southeast - which then integrate for calibration and validation into our StormCloud system.
